Family History

We provide free access to key online Family History resources – Ancestry and Find My Past. These sources are only available on-site in our libraries.

As well as the wealth of online and physical resources available at Rutland Libraries, we also have knowledgeable volunteer staff, with a wealth of family history expertise, on hand at Oakham, Uppingham and Ketton Libraries to help guide research.

They are available at Oakham Library on Tuesday afternoons from 1pm – 3pm and on Thursday mornings from 11am – 1pm; Uppingham Library on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2pm – 3.30pm and at Ketton Library on Friday mornings from 9.30am – 12.30pm. Pre-booking is essential at all libraries.

Ready to start your family history journey? For more information or to book a free consultation with our volunteers, please email FHistory@rutland.gov.uk

We also have many of printed and microfilmed resources available through Rutland County Museum. See the Museum website for more details.
