Rutland Libraries provide free access to hundreds of great magazines through the Libby app from OverDrive. More magazines are also available through our PressReader eNewspaper and eMagazine Service.

Getting Started with Libby

All you need to get started with Libby is your device, your library card and PIN number.

The Libby app is easy to use and will guide you through the setup process and get you connected to our eMagazines in a few minutes. The link below will take you to the Libby App homepage and guide you through logging on. 

E-magazines on PCs and laptops

Click here to access eMagazines (external link)

  • Sign in using your library card number and PIN

Select the magazine you want to read and click ‘start reading’. The magazine will load in your browser window.

E-magazines on tablets and smart phones

Download the Libby app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple). You can use the link above, and:

  • open the app and select ‘register now’
  • select ‘Rutland Library Service’ as your library
  • login using your library card number and PIN

FAQs

Do I have to set up an account on Libby?

Yes, but it’s quick and easy to do. You will need your library card number and PIN/Password.

What app or website will I need to use?

The Libby app – this is available for Apple devices (iOS 9.0 or later), Android devices (5.0 or later). If you have a Windows computer, Mac computer, or a Chromebook, you can use Libby in your web browser at www.libbyapp.com

Unfortunately, Libby is not available for Kindle Fire devices, but you can download the OverDrive app instead.

What if I can’t remember my PIN?

You can email libraries@rutland.gov.uk or telephone 01572 722918 and we will be happy to help you.

What if my library card doesn’t work?

If you have an older card the system may not recognise you. Email libraries@rutland.gov.uk or telephone us on 01572 722918 and we will be happy to help you.

Will I have to log in each time?

No. You will need to do a one-time set up, then you can choose to stay logged in on your device.

How many eMagazines will I be able to borrow?

In Libby you’ll have access to over 3,000 magazines. There are no checkout limits, so you will be able to borrow as many as you like.

How long can I borrow magazines for in Libby?

You can borrow magazines for 21 days, after which they will be automatically returned. You can return them early if you’ve finished with them, or renew them if you want a bit longer.

Are back issues available?

Yes, there are 3 years’ worth of back issues.
